Formal Dining Room Chairs – Prototype

Formal Dining Room Chairs – Prototype
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is a prototype of the dining chairs, which will be for the dining room table I built last year. This prototype was developed over 2 months, incorporating the things that I needed and design elements my wife wanted. I used table saw, band saw, planer, jointer, drill press, and lathe.  The challenges include angled tenons, angled mortise, and regular tenons. The design of the front legs and skirt chair matches the table.  Also, I cut the coves in the skirt with angled shallow cut on the table saw.

Based on this prototype, I will be making 10 of these dining chairs with cherry.

Have been doing IT work since 1981. At different points, I have used woodworking as stress relief from IT. Large IT projects can take years to accomplish. Woodworking can be done hours, days or weeks and you have something to show for it.
