Officer Reports:
- Vice-President – Brandon Ginn gave an update on the schedule of future club meetings.
- Secretary – Lee Soileaux was absent during this meeting and Richard reported in his place. There were 22 members at the February meeting.
- Treasurer – Rick Albrecht was present during this meeting and reported that the club had a balance of $3,314.25 in the bank. He attributed this to the influx of new members. He reminded everyone that the cutoff date for submitting dues is the month of March and that the 2026 membership roll would be published with the names of those who have paid for the year. He encouraged members to pay their dues this month. Good to see you again Rick even though I wasn’t there.
- Webmaster – Open
- Community Service – Ken Brown reported that Lee Owens’ group completed their table and that Mick Murphy and his group had delivered their table two weeks ago. Jim Landry and his group built the panels and dry fitted them for the St. Vincent DePaul statue pedestal they are building. He said that they would probably complete the build in two to three weeks and after a brief break would begin working on one of the tables for O’Brien House. Ken said that we will probably begin the laundry cabinet project for the VOA next month. Richard encouraged members to submit pictures of smaller projects that have been completed so that they could be placed on the web site. Rick Albrecht also called for members to send pictures of these smaller projects because he saw that there were more than he was aware of when he searched a data base of projects kept since 2022 and pictures would be most welcome.
- Education Outreach – Open
New and Ongoing Club Business
- Dues are due in March. Richard repeated his encouragement to members to submit their annual dues this month.
- Marucci Field Trip Discussion – Richard requested that members respond to his recent email regarding which day, Tuesday or Thursday, they prefer for the field trip. Previous member voting nailed down the time of 10:00 in the morning. He asked that respondents let him know no later than this coming week so that he can finalize the arrangements with Marucci.
- Zoo Event – Richard indicated that we have seven volunteers for the event. He called for additional volunteers to help out with this event. Previous events have shown that this is very popular with the parents and youngsters so help is needed. We have sufficient drill presses and tents but we do need more volunteers even if for only half a day.
Members Questions/Concerns – There were no questions/concerns.
Safety Topic – Jim Landry recounted his experience of attempting to cut a stopped dado on a table saw by lowering the work piece onto the blade. He did not have a happy experience with this method but no one was injured other than the piece of cherry used. He substituted a router for the table saw with a much more satisfying and safe experience.
Skill Topic: Reclaiming/Repurposing Wood – Jean Zarangue
Show-and-Tell – There were three members who brought projects to share with the club.
