Officer Reports:

STWC is trying to organize a field trip to a location in Pascagoula, MS. More details will be provided as they are available.
  • Secretary – Harold Choate- 17 people attended the July meeting, there are 39 members currently.
  • Treasurer – Rick Albrecht- Contact Rick for details.
  • Webmaster – Open
  • Community Service – Lee Owens- Absent, Richard gave a report. Some of the projects we were working on have been cancelled due to lack of funds. Art Miller advised he is working on the drawing details for the HAART table and chairs we have as an active project. These will be provided to Lee, Art, Harold and George because they are the project leaders for this project.
  • Education Outreach – Open

New and Ongoing Club Business

  • Website- There was a training class for how to post information on the website last Saturday. It was held at the Main Library with 9 people attending. There will be an Executive Meeting after the Club meeting to develop detailed guidelines to be used for posting articles on the Website. A review of the material by a committee before the post is made public is how this will be handled in order to avoid inappropriate content being posted.
  • Swampfest – Bird house Material/Distribution- The board that organizes the Swamp Festival has not made a decision about doing one this year at this time. We have investigated sourcing wood. The contact we had at Holmes Building Materials no longer works there so that is not available. Based on pricing from Holmes the cost of lumber would be about $600. Lowe’s or Home Depot would be double that amount. Brazos Forest Products does not handle softwood. There are 2 options: A- The club bears the cost of lumber, we have about 30 kits in storage, B- We say thanks but no thanks. If B is the case we have to come up with a meeting place and skill topic for the October meeting. Harold Choate recommended declining the event so we could be in control of our schedule. Midcity Church Furnishings was suggested as a possibility for a meeting place and topic in October. A motion was made not to participate in Swamp Fest this year. It was approved by voice vote.
  • Donaldsonville House Restoration- The club has been invited to help with restoring a house in Donaldsonville. The invitation was declined.
