Welcome and Introduction of Guests

Officer Reports:

  • Vice-President – George Campagna- Not much is new, just the schedule. Next month’s meeting is at the Rural Life Museum. Brian Stauss is going to do a presentation on pen turning. August’s meeting is at PMC. It is a joint meeting with the St. Tammany club. The presentation is wood identification by Todd Shupe. September meeting is at West Baton Rouge Museum. The presentation is wood stabilization by Seth Ausley. October is the Swamp Fest. November the meeting is at Terry Landry’s shop in Clinton, LA. The December meeting will be at Jim Landry’s shop in Prairieville.
  • Secretary – Harold Choate- 18 people attended in May. Our Facebook activity has dropped off for some reason. Please send me your project activity or tool comments so we’ll have some new content to post. The website is up and running. It can be used for both communication and presentation of projects. George Campagna advised Gator Millworks had posted pictures of our tour of their facility on their website. If you weren’t able to attend and would like to see what was done that would be a good place to go to find out.
  • Treasurer – Rick Albrecht- Contact Rick for details.
  • Webmaster – Open
  • Community Service – Lee Owens- O’Brien House chest of drawers is virtually complete. We have 2 more projects on the books. Anchor House wants 2 dining tables built. These are bar height tables. 2 feet wide by 7 feet long. The height is still in discussion. Anchor House is a facility for people getting out of jail or dealing with substance abuse. A facility in Ponchatoula for abused women would like to have 2 swings built for their clients. The name of the place is Love Moves First. Jack Carmena’s daughter donated $200.00 to the club in his honor with a request that it be used for a charitable organization. The donation will go towards the expenses for these swings. Please sign up on the sheets is you can help.
  • Education Outreach – Open

New and Ongoing Club Business

  • Bird house Status from Art Miller- Great grandchildren have interrupted getting a source on the wood. I’ll be working on acquiring the wood in July. We’ve decided to use common nails to assemble the birdhouses this year instead of finishing nails. The kids should be able to nail them easier and the head will hold the birdhouse together better.
