Rack for Turning Tools

I am getting into turning lately and built up a good selection of turning tools in my shop. To organize and make the tools easily reachable while turning, I created this 44-3/4″-wide tool rack on the wall right behind my lathe. The tools are held in short sections of PVC pipe; I’ve used the same style rack for fishing poles.
The materials used for this build:
- Back: 9-1/8″ wide board (I used poplar)
- Bottom: 3-1/8″ wide board (cypress)
- 2 Triangle Braces: (scrap pieces)
- Tool holders: 1-1/2″ and 2″ PVC pipes, 8-1/4″ long
- #8 screws (1″ for the pipes, and 2″/2-1/2″ to mount the rack to the wall)
Most all was scrap stuff laying around; my total out-of-pocket cost was about $10 to purchase an extra pipe.
The pictures below summarizes the build process:

A stop block to cut pipes to length
and another stop block to drill mounting holes on the pipes

Also cut some 2″ PVC pipes
A little sanding job make them all white with no writing visible

The bracket with braces
Eyeballing they will fit nicely. Also note tape on drill bit #8 taper gives you good depth

Now mount to the wall; leave a few pipes out so you can hide the screws
Finished!
Finally, a few closeup shots of the finished rack:
